Alzheimer's

Alzheimer’s is when the neurofibrils cease growing and shrink back on themselves in a tangle. Neurons are highly sensitive to toxins which testosterone makes even worse. Sometimes there is a genetic link to sequestering heavy metals as in Autistic children born of mothers with high levels of testosterone in their womb. Estrogens can protect. Normally we can lose the ability to rid our bodies and brains of toxic metals such as mercury. Dental amalgam, tuna and vaccines all contain mercury at levels that a healthy person should be capable of excreting.

In every case of Alzheimer’s there are very low levels of glutiathione. Glutiathione is made by our bodies as a protection against heavy metal toxicity. However we were not designed to cope with high concentrations. There are other toxic metals such as copper and even zinc but these two cause no problems on their own but add mercury and one sees synergistic toxicity.

So what can help? Well sources of glutathione such as garlic, broccoli and unions. And supplements to assist the body to make its own. These are: Fish oil, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as found in every single A & E department, Lipoeic Acid where brewers yeast is a good source, Vitamins B6 and B12 - probably best taken as B complex 100, selenium and milk thistle.

Exercise but not too much also helps as does bioactive whey protein. Per serving, asparagus, avocadoes, asparagus, squash, okra, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, spinach, walnuts, garlic, and raw tomatoes have the highest glutathione content compared to other vegetables and are particularly rich dietary sources of glutathione.

Every cell in your body requires glutathione but note that these foods do not contain glutathione itself and that if it is injected or ingested cells will not take any of it in. This is because the only way for a cell to obtain necessary glutathione is to make it within the cell. Cells make it from three amino acids. These are cysteine, glycine, and glutomate. All three that go to make the list above a rich sources of glutathione because they contain a significant percentage of all three.

Past the age of 20, levels of glutathione drop by 1% per year. So we can see why alzheimer’s is seen in the elderly. Interestingly a 100 year old person was found to have 70% level of glutathione, the same level as a 50 year old, which might explain why they were still upright and posed the question: Is this then a secret of living healthier for longer?

This is an informative post. To get the Best fish oil, one has to be very wary of the supplements we buy. It is important to be vigilant about the composition of fish oil. The best fish oil comes from Hoki fish, found near New Zealand. It has to be extracted by molecular distillation and should contain the adequate quantities of DHA and EPA. It may or may not be flavored to hide the fishy smell.
